Meeting Minutes

Due to the scheduled outing at the Hudkin’s property, there was no official meeting for April.

The outing was held at the Hudkin’s property, 8 miles north of Llano on Hwy 16. Kevin Green arrived early on Friday to get things setup. Several other members and attendees also arrived on Friday in preparation for the Saturday and Sunday dig. About 27 people attended even with the short notice. 2 port-a-potties were brought in for the outing.

A common operation was held Saturday morning from 9am to 1pm. All concentrates from the common were classified using a 30 mesh screen. The material that went through the screen was processed using a Blue Bowl separator and a Camel wheel. The larger concentrates went through a mini-highbanker. Kevin brought the Blue Bowl and mini highbanker. Jo Ann Gears provided the Camel. A small amount of color was found in all three setups.

Several new participants got their first taste of prospecting. There was just enough flow in the creek to support a few sluices. Other types of equipment included a dredge, highbanker, metal detector and crack suckers.

A drawing was held for the common operation gold and door prizes were also awarded.
The winners of the gold and prizes were:

Shelby Dotson   Gold vial #1
Ethan Reed        Gold vial #2
John Griffin         Gold vial #3

Claude Dotson cooked up some “Cowboy Stew” in his Dutch Oven. Several other participants cooked and everyone enjoyed the dinner Saturday night. The day ended with a nice campfire and get together of all participants.

Most attendees left out early Sunday due to the threat of rain. A few folks remained and did some more prospecting till about 2pm. The landowner was very pleased with the outing and has invited us back for another.
