The meeting started around 4:00pm. This meeting was held during the outing at the Halliburton property. There were 12 attendees. Daniel Klepac started off the meeting by thanking Boo Coo Haas for coming to the outing. Boo Coo was hoping for more sales of his merchandise, but had a good time anyway. Daniel talked about the recent Llano Knapper’s Rendezvous Festival held in Llano last month. The Round Rock Chapter had a booth setup at the festival. Kevin Green brought his blue bowl and mini recirculator to give demonstrations on concentrate cleanup. Daniel did not participate in this year’s panning contest and later indicated he would come out of retirement next year to give everyone a run for their money. Our Chapter was represented by 3 outstanding kids at the festival. Alex Klepac and Patrick Tioton finished 1st and 2nd in the junior division of the Texas State Panning Championship, respectively. Pam Parnell cleaned up in the metal detecting contest and raffle. Congratulations to all 3 kids. Daniel felt the festival’s turnout was low compared to previous years. This meeting will be the last for 2008. There may be a gathering at Earl Theiss’ house in December. Activities will include equipment demonstrations and a kiln will be setup to process some black sands. Earl will send out a formal announcement. Gerry Davison, treasurer, will attempt to get a hold of our previous treasurer Roland Schneider. We have not seen him in quite some time and need to get the Chapter’s funds transferred to a new bank. Daniel reminds the group that this will be his last term as President of the Chapter. Gerry has bucket replacement handles for sale at $2 apiece. He also has 12” by 4 foot sections of deep “V” rubber matting for $12. Next meeting will be in January of 2009. The meeting adjourned around 4:30pm.
